Board Nominations
We are now accepting nominations for our advisory board, the 14 individuals who are responsible for our strategic direction and business affairs. Each spring, we fill open board seats through the process of nomination—this year there are three spots opening up. We invite you to nominate someone (perhaps yourself!) who has the capacity, competency, character, and commitment to help The Table step into its next chapter.
Please read all the information before completing the form on our Board Nomination page:
I have more questions; who do I ask?
Our goal is for full transparency in the nomination process; we never want it to feel mysterious or secretive. We want our board members to be a known presence in our community. Questions about this process can be directed to current president Erika Shima.

Q/Ts at The Table
Gather with other queer folks for food and conversation in community.

Sunday Morning Worship
Our Sunday morning worship gatherings follow a rhythm: singing with Christian, hearing from Debbie and the rest of the team, sharing communion, and ending with our community benediction. We’d love to have you join us!
Kids begin the service in their groups (read more about check-in and Table Kids programming here) and return for communion. Communion is served at the front of the church after the sermon. As you’re ready, we invite you to come forward down the left aisle, take a piece of gluten-free bread, dip it into the cup of grape juice, and eat it as you return to your seat.
After the service, we invite you to get a cup of coffee (from Bichota!) and hang out. If it’s your first visit, stop by the Welcome Table in the back of the Sanctuary—we’d love to meet you, share more information, and answer any questions you might have.
If you’re not able to join us in person, we post the sermon to our Recent Messages page the following Monday, or you can listen via your favorite podcast provider.

Palm Sunday Community Meal
On Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter, we remember Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Table Kids does a palm parade through the Sanctuary, and after service, we’ll have brunch together!
Look for signups soon to bring brunch foods (egg bake, fruit, etc.) for the meal! As always, if bringing food isn’t your jam, we welcome you to help with setup, serving, or teardown after the meal.

Men at The Table
All guys are welcome to hang out over drinks and food at the Giovanellis’ house!

Women at The Table
Women at The Table gatherings create sacred space where joy is multiplied and community is built. It’s a low-stakes way to get to know others by gathering with other women and connecting over drinks, snacks, and conversation in a smaller group setting. We start the evening with an introduction question, a devotion, and then someone shares their story.
At our March gathering, Sara asked everyone share a book, music, podcast, or practice that gives them inspiration or connection to their faith. Here is the list our group curated together:

We can’t wait to see you all at Pride weekend! Pride is our top community event of the year and every year, many people join our community because of our continued presence at Pride.

To that end, we encourage you to spend the evening of the big game gathered with others, eating something delicious, maybe even watching the game! We’ll be back together at Bethlehem on Sunday, February 16 at 5pm!

Everyone at The Table
We’ve had gatherings for Men, Women, and Queer Folk at The Table, but now it’s time for everyone to hang out together! Here’s the plan for the evening:
4pm: Bring your sleds and/or skates (there’s a sledding hill and lighted rink!) and meet at Browndale Park, one block from the Giovannellis’. All ages welcome. If you don’t feel like sledding or skating, you can hang out at the Giovannellis’ house, where dinner prep is happening.
5pm: Everyone meet up at the Giovannellis’ house—we’ll have cocoa waiting!
5:15pm: Dinner—pizza, salad, and drinks provided; if you can, bring an appetizer or dessert
6pm: Movie for kids in the basement; adults connect upstairs
Note on parking: Parking is not allowed on Wooddale Ave. You can park on Morningside Road or 43 1/2 Street. If you’re meeting to sled or skate, we suggest parking at Browndale Park and walking the block to the Giovannellis’ house.

Christmas Offering
It is our tradition to send our Christmas Offering to benefit another organization. This year, we’ve chosen to support The Park Place, a long-term partner of ours who operates out of the Center of Belonging. The Park Place works to close the opportunity gap for Latine youth and families in Powderhorn Park through education, leadership training, and advocacy. Every summer, we gather backpacks for students at The Park Place, and every Christmas, we donate gifts for families to purchase at cost for their kids. Click below to give online (choose Christmas Offering from the dropdown).

No Worship
We will not have worship the weekend before New Year’s, but we’ll be back together for worship on January 5.

Christmas Eve Worship
Be with us for Christmas Eve at the Center of Belonging (35th and Aldrich) for familiar carols and readings, songs by the kids, a meditation from Debbie, and ending with our traditional candlelit singing of Silent Night. There will not be nursery or Table Kids groups, so bring the whole family!

Stock the Christmas Store
Our partner, The Park Place, hosts a Christmas store each year for Latine families in the neighborhood. Groups like ours donate funds, Park Place shops for toys and gifts to stock the store, then families gather at the Center of Belonging so parents shop for gifts at a discount. This model preserves dignity for everyone involved, and 127 kids are signed up this year!
To streamline the process (and because we are coming down to the wire!), The Park Place is completing all the shopping this Friday! If you’re able, please donate to the fund below so each child can receive a gift at Christmas:

Service Project
Practice service and generosity alongside other Table folks (of all ages!) at this fun morning at the Giovannellis’ house! We’ll be creating pillowcases for kids who are spending the holidays in the hospital. There will be crafting opportunities for all ages and abilities—sewing skills not required! Holiday music and breakfast snacks are provided, if you're able to bring a sewing machine or craft supplies, please let Ellen Poulter know by email or text (952.923.8833). We hope to see you there!

Trans Day of Remembrance with OutFront MN
Join friends from The Table community at OutFront Minnesota’s annual Transgender Day of Remembrance gathering. This event is dedicated to honoring the memory of trans individuals whose lives were lost in acts of anti-trans violence and is a time to be in community with queer siblings, remembering those who have passed while creating queer joy, creativity, and love. Artists and performers share their gifts on stage.
More information is available here:

Worship at Center of Belonging
Five times a year, our host church Bethlehem uses the Sanctuary on Sunday nights for their Music Series. We will move our worship service to the Center of Belonging, just a few blocks north of Bethlehem. Think of it as church as usual, just in a different location!
We will worship in their Sanctuary and utilize their kids’ spaces as well. The church building is at the corner of 35th and Aldrich. Street parking is available and you are encouraged to use the drop-off zone along Aldrich as needed.

Post-Election Conversation and Prayer
For those who want to be in community tonight, Debbie is hosting a time for conversation, readings, and prayers at her house. at 7:30pm.
Men at The Table will meet as planned at 7pm. They will also be making space to discuss the election.

Cozy (Un)Election Night
Marta Smith and Pastor Jae are hosting an intentional relaxation space on election night to reduce election anxiety. All are welcome, especially if you don’t want to spend that night worried and alone. The goal is to create a gentle and low stimulation environment (Kevin the weiner dog will be present for snuggles).
Just bring yourself! The following are totally optional: any personal comfort items, hobbies, or favorite snacks. We’ll do lowkey crafting, snacking, games, and be unplugged from all election media.
RSVPs not required, but you can let Jae know you’re coming, especially if you have any food/allergy restrictions we should plan for.

All Saints' Weekend
All Saints’ is a time to remember the people we have loved and lost. At The Table, we dedicate time in our service to remember the names and photos of those who have passed away this past year.
If you would like us to remember your loved one this All Saints’, please email Patti by October 30 with the following information:
Your name
Their name and relationship to you
Their photo

Pride Trunk-or-Treat
This year, The Table will be participating in Twin Cities Pride’s Trunk-or-Treat, a fun and safe way for families to enjoy Halloween together, featuring creatively decorated cars, delicious treats, and plenty of community spirit. Come in costume and then head to church for our Halloween costume parade and community meal!

Vote Common Good Rally
Table folks are invited to join with Doug Pagitt and the folks from Vote Common Good at their rally this Sunday after Table worship (just down the street!). The event runs from 7-9pm and includes music, poetry, encouragement, and a screening of the documentary “We The People Ride.” This documentary is the same one Doug was filming back in 2022 about their cross-country bike ride along the US/Mexico border.
After church finishes on Sunday, come on over to the Solomon’s Porch building!

Special Guest Doug Pagitt
Welcome Doug Pagitt back to The Table to continue our series on White Christian Nationalism.

Middle School Mini-Retreat
Come kick off the new program year with us! Students in grades 6th-8th have a mini-retreat right before church which will consist of:
Outdoor time (weather permitting)
Ice breaking/team-building games
Mini-Bible study
Snacks (please eat a full lunch beforehand)
Sweet treats
Meeting volunteers

Fall Kickoff Sunday
Come back to church on Sundays this fall! Worship begins at 5pm, afterwards we’ll gather in the parking lot for pizza from Lion’s Fire wood-fired pizza and TWO bouncy houses for the kids (one for bigs + littles).
During the service, Table Kids groups meet (ages PreK through 5th grade); the nursery is open for babies and toddlers.

No Worship: Labor Day Weekend
We won’t be meeting for worship on Labor Day Weekend. We’ll see you next weekend (September 8) for our fall kickoff!

Pizza in August
Come for worship at 5pm, and stay for pizza afterward! If the weather’s nice, we’ll eat outside.

Table Kids Summer Break
On the last two Sundays in August, our Table Kids team takes a break to gear up for Fall programming (starting September 8)! Kids in pre-K and up join their families during worship; the nursery is available for kids up to age 4 or 5 for those who have a hard time in service.

Last Chance: Backpack Drive
Every August, we work with our partner The Park Place to get backpacks and school supplies to kids in the Powderhorn neighborhood.
Here’s how it works: you donate new backpacks stuffed with a $20 (for supplies) and we get the backpacks to The Park Place. They host a Back to School Bash for families to purchase backpacks and school supplies at a greatly reduced cost. This approach maintains dignity for all involved.
Notes on backpacks:
new, unused backpacks
for younger students, choose cartoons/characters/playful designs
for older students, choose high-quality brands like Jansport, Columbia, Wildkin
Stuff each backpack with $20, cash or check made out to The Park Place
Update 8/13: Bekah from Park Place says they are short on backpacks for middle & high schoolers. Here’s a link to the kinds of backpacks these students like:
If in-person shopping isn’t feasible, you can donate directly to The Park Place below—thank you for your generosity!

Cheer on the Table Softball Team!
We’re got rescheduled for one final game of the season! See you on the sidelines at Bryn Mawr Meadows Park.

Service Time Survey
As we continue to explore the future of The Table, the topic of our service time has resurfaced and we want to ensure your voice is heard as we explore our options.
Please complete the two-question survey at the link below. Thank you!

Community Hangout
Come cheer for the Table softball team at their 6:15pm game at Bryn Mawr Meadows Park, then meet up at Bradley and Marta’s house! They’ll be grilling hot dogs, please bring drinks and/or a side to share! Everyone is welcome—kids and non-softball players included! Can’t wait to hang out together!

Community Listening Session
We are in a season of discernment about the structure of Table leadership and future hiring needs. This listening session is a space for you to share your ideas and feedback with leadership.
In lieu of a regular service on the 14th, we’re pivoting: we’ll begin with a time of worship + communion followed by small group discussion around tables. Childcare provided/kids’ groups meet as normal. Come with big hopes and dreams for this community—we want to hear them!
